There are two entries for Cranoe [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP7695/cranoe/] [accessed 10 August 2015], neither of which mentions cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Leicestershire, 1964) notes: "There was a priest at Cranoe by 1199, [...] and the church was probably founded earlier in the 12th century. [...] A plain circular font survives from the 12th century". In Pevsner (1984): "Font. Plain, circular, probably C12."
