There is an entry for this Cossington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST3540/cossington/] [accessed 30 July 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 8, 2004) notes: "A rector of Cossington was mentioned in 1225 [...] The church of the Blessed Virgin Mary was so dedicated by 1505 [...] The chancel is of the 13th century [...] The Perpendicular [-style] font appears to be of the 17th century". No font mentioned in Pevsner (1958).
