Scene Description: Source caption: "The church dates from the 12th century, although the external fabric is all later. The south aisle is 14th century with a 19th century porch, the chancel was completely rebuilt in 1850, and the clerestory windows are also 19th century insertions".

There are three entries for Burton [Lazars] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK7616/burton-lazars/] [accessed 5 July 2019], one of which mentions two preiest but no church in it, though there must have been one there. Pevsner (1984) notes: "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with quatrefoil and crenellation." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK7676316941] notes: "Parish church. Late C12, mid and late C13, C14, C15. Restored and chancel rebuilt by H. Goddard, 1850. Further restored 1887 and 1900. [...] Fittings include C15 font with octagonal stem with shafts and panelled bowl re-cut C19."
