There is an entry for Beeby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK6608/beeby/] [accessed 24 July 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Pevsner (1984) writes: "Font. C13 base with four shafts and dogtooth between. Small bowl, probably C17." The Churches Conservation Trust [www.visitchurches.org.uk/content.php?churchID=16&nID=11®ion=Leicestershire] [accessed 17 August 2009] notes: "a curious 13th century font", without mention of the composite nature of the font.
