A font is noted and illustrated in Upcott (1818) under Aston Flamville, likely the earlier font of this church before the Victorian re-building. Noted in Pevsner (1984): "Font. An extraordinarily frilly piece of High Victoriana. Marble. Biblical scenes and canopies on the bowl." [NB: was the old font lost at the time?] [see also entry for Burbage, and http://www.burbage.leicester.anglican.org/about/history.html [accessed 30 September 2007] -- confirmation to be sought]]. The British Listed Buildings database [www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-188992-church-of-st-peter-aston-flamville] [accessed 19 September 2011] gives the dates of the early fabric of this church in the 11th and 13th centuries. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font].
