Font Notes:
No entry found for Lamberhurst in the Domesday survey. Glynne (877) reports a plain octagonal font in his [1829?] visit to this church. Listed in Historic England [Listing NGR: TQ6781936707]: "Parish church. Chancel C12, extended C13, nave C14 and C15 tower, restored c.1870 by Ewan Christian", without a mention of the font. Noted in the Lamberhurst Village site [www.lamberhurstvillage.co.uk]: "The font was relocated from the Chapel of St. Katherine [the latter to the west of the chancel], possibly in 1964. It is plain octagon embellished and given a new base, which is unfinished, in 19th century by the [then] Vicar, the Rev. Robert Hawkins. The lid is a recent gift from a parishioner and probably Victorian and from a redundant Church." [NB: this font not entered in Newman (1980)]
