Described in Glynne (1877): "The font has an octagonal bowl on stem." Noted in the Parish web site [www.shadoxhurst.info/Churchmain.html]: "The font [...] is lead lined, hexagonal a shape fairly common in the Midlands but rare in the South East. Others found in Tenterden, Rolvenden and Sandhurst." [cf. Index corresponding entries -- but the font at Sandhurst (Kent) is octagonal] This same source notes that the font cover was "made with wood from the pews".
