Font Notes:
Baptismal font probably of a composite nature: the narble basin is probably older [17th-century?] that the limestone (?) pedestal base. Hemispherical basin decorated with a double parallel moulding near the upper rim; the basin has several marks or scratches on the sides, but one of them is the type of infentation sometimes found on the side of southern-French fonts to fit the lock of the cover. The capital of the cylindrical pedestal has an octagonal upper volume followed down by several round mouldings, whereas the base has a graded round moulding on a small square lower base or plinth. [NB: we were not able to get the information of the church where this font belongs: was it St-Etienne's? the Cathedral?]
