Described in Glynne (1877): "The font has an octagonal bowl and stem. The cover is of wood, with rather elegant carving and friezed tracery." Noted in Newman (1976): one of the two tallest font covers in the county, with doors, 16th-century -- the other is Newington. [NB: the font is believed to be contemporary with the cover]: "Font cover. Early C16, with doors. Conical cap of pierced tracery. Also a pireced cresting repeating a pattern of birds fiercely attacking fruit that has a positively Viking spirit." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TQ7024357115] notes: "Church. C12, C14, rebuilt circa 1450-1500 [...] Font area: Early C16, with doors. Tall panelled base with tall conical cap of pierced tracery. Pierced cresting to base of birds attacking fruit. Octagonal stone font."
