Church Notes: "St Andrew`s Church was partially destroyed by Scots raiders in 1318. The present building is the third church to occupy what is thought to be the site of a Roman Temple of Mercury. The north wall dates from around 1330, and carries a brass of William de Aldeburgh dating from around 1360. " [source: www.achurchnearyou.com/aldborough-st-andrew/ [accessed 10 June 2014]]

Noted in Glynne's visit of 21 November 1860 (in Butler, 2007): "The font is new and too small." Replacement font probably of the 19th century; octagonal basin with cusped quatrefoil panels between mouildings at the rims; slender octagonal stem with moulding towards the top; moulded base, also octagonal. Flat octagonal wooden cover; also modern. [NB: we have no information on the original font (14th-15th century?) of this church].
