There is an entry for this Plumpton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SP5948/plumpton/] [accessed 29 March 2019]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SP5976448313] notes: "Church. Rebuilt 1822 reusing some medieval work. [...] Octagonal font on baluster pedestal. Probably late C17." The present baptismal font, apparently from the 17th century, consists of a small octagonal basin with plain rounded sides and underbowl, raised on an octagonal stem with a moulding towards the top, and a plain and narrow octagonal lower base or plinth. It is located at the west end of the nave.
