There are three entries for Stow Maries [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ8399/stow-maries/] [accessed 15 April 2019] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for this church in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923) notes: "Font: octagonal stem with trefoil-headed panels and moulded base, 15th-century." No mention of the font in Bettley & Pevsner (2007). The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: TQ8336299386] notes: "Parish church. C14-C16, restored in C19. [...] The C15 font has an octagonal stem with trefoil-headed panels and moulded base, and a C19 bowl."
