Holy-water stoup noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "In nave--E. of N. doorway, with triangular head and modern sill, early 16th-century." Although the fabric of this church goes back to the late 12th century, the RCHM does not mention a font in it [the RCHM does not list post-1714 objects]; we have no information on the original font of this church. The Thurrock Local History Society description of this church [http://www.thurrock-community.org.uk/historysoc/stmarys.htm] 9accessed 14 July 2010] notes: "Just inside to the left is an early 16th century holy water stoup; to the right is the 19th century font."
