Special Collections Dept., done by Harvey Pridham on 30 May 1887 accompanied by the following description: "Octagonal. Position. Circular bowl, slight rakes, lead lined, 4 1/2 margin. 10 deep. Flat modern cover." Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal bowl, with moulded under-edge, plain stem and moulded base, early 16th-century."
