Font Notes:
The baptismal font now in St. James' is Victorian and consists of an octagonal basin with protruding angles decorated with colonnettes and raised on a broad shaft at the centre with four angle colonnettes on an octagonal lower base and an octagonal plinth; a quatrefoil window appears on each of the sides of the basin [NB: the fabric of the building may go back as far as the 11th century, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church].
