Sotomayor (1963) notes three admirable holy-water stoups of very large size, carved in a characteristically indigenous style which alternates with Christian monograms; he points out that their cylindrical shape is a clear reference to the pre-Hispanic 'cuauhxicalli', the vessel used for the offering of the human hearts to the deities.
