There are three entries for this Abberton in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TL9919/abberton/] [accessed 2 October 2014], but neither of them mentions cleric or church in it. A font here is noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: plain octagonal bowl, with moulded lower edge, stem and hollow-chamfered base, probably 15th-century." Not mentioned in Bettley & Pevsner (2007)
