Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Stoup: In S.porch, with rough four-centred head and broken basin, late 15th-century" [NB: according to the RCHM [cf. supra] the fabric of the church dates back to the early 13th century, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]. The Good Easter Parish Council confirms [e-mail of 15 July 2010 to BSI from Mr. Alan Hall, Chairman] that: "St. Andrew's was all but destroyed by fire on 22 March 1885. The
restoration was under control of Mr F Chancellor an architect. He designed the new font which bears the inscription 'In memory of Marmaduke Walker January 14
1885' he was the son of the Rev F Walker who had been drowned. Rev F Walker was a previous vicar of Good Easter. The font is in use today and is in good order at the rear of the church."
