There are three entries for Stebbing [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TL6624/stebbing/] [accessed 3 December 2023], one of which, for the land of Henry of Ferrers, reports a priest in it. The entry for Stebbing in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923) notes: "Font: octagonal, with plain bowl, moulded at the base, and cusped panelled stem, 15th-century." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TL6639424004] notes: "Church mainly circa 1360 with later restorations [...] There is a C14 Piscina with moulded trefoil head and label and basin [...] Font Octagonal, with plain bowl, moulded at base and cusped panelled stem. C16 Stoup in South Porch with pointed head and broken basin probably C16."
