Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal bowl of coarse limestone, 15th-century, restored where staples for cover were inserted, modern sunk panel in one face; octagonal stem of Totternhow stone with moulded top and chamfered base, possibly 14th-century, re-cut."
