Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Stoup: In S. porch--E. of doorway, pointed recess with broken round basin, 15th-century." [NB: the website http://www.recordinguttlesfordhistory.org.uk/berden/berdenStNicholas.html [accessed 14 June 2010] reports a font at the west end of the nave; this font is probably from the re-building of the church in 1868 -- we have no information on the medieval font]
