Described in Suckling (1846-1848): "a good octangular font at the west end, in excellent preservation, though its sculpture is clogged with paint; a species of embellishment much affected by modern churchwardens." Lewis' Dictionary of 1848 notes: "the font is curiously sculptured." Noted in Parker (1855) and in Cautley (1982). Knott (2009) writes: "The 15th Century font seems relatively large in this narrow space. Sam Mortlock thought it was so like those at nearby Mutford and Gisleham that it was probably carved by the same mason." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TM4616289390] notes: "Parish church. Medieval; chancel restored 1874 [...] Well-preserved early C15 octagonal font, the faces of the bowl carved alternately with angels bearing shields and with lions; under the bowl there are heads with headdresses (cf. Gisleham)." The baptismal font is of the East Anglia type, consisting of an octagonal basin with vertical deeply-carved panels containing angel demi-figures holding shields alternating with seated lions; on the panel frames, little rosettes; underbowl chamfer decorated with human heads at the angles and floral motifs on the panels; pedestal base of eight (?) clustered columns with moulded capitals and bases; on a two-step plinth. The wooden cover is pyramidal octagonal, with see-through qautrefoils on the sides; large Latin cross finial.
