Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal with quatrefoiled panels to bowl filled with carved heads, foliage or plain shields, moulded and carved lower edge, and panelled stem, 15th-century." In Pevsner (1976): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], traceried stem, bowl with quatrefoils with leaves or grotesque heads." Ditto in Bettley & Pevsner (2007).
