There are two entries for Aldringham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TM4460/aldringham/] [accessed 5 October 2023] neither of which mentions priest or church in it. Suckling (1846-1848) writes: "The octagonal font bears on its compartments symbols of the apostles, with angels bearing shields." In Parker (1855) with much the same description. Knott (2010) writes: "The finest feature of the church is its 15th century font. This is one of the typically East Anglian fonts, of which about 160 survive in Suffolk, showing angels and evangelistic symbols on the bowl, and lions on the stem. Of all of them, this is probably the best." The basin has several large cracks and shows further damage caused by the metal staples of the old font cover. The wooden font cover is modern, a gift in the memory of Amy Roxborough, who died 18 October 1925.
