Church Notes: Domesday-time church likely, as priest reported in the survey; derelict by the 1820s; demolished and re-built 1860s
There is an entry for Lasborough [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/ST8294/lasborough/] [accessed 20 February 2019]; it mentions a priest but not a church in it, though there must have been one there. Noted in the Victoria County History (1976): "A new font was given by the rector in 1861, and the old font, presumably from the original church, stood in the churchyard until 1903 when it was moved to Great Witcombe. It was reinstated in Lasborough church in 1909." [A drawing of the old font can be found in Edward Wyatt's 'Church architecture' [http://web.ukonline.co.uk/prestbury/0102/pagei.htm]. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Norman cylindrical bowl"; later, in their entry for Great Witcombe, they add: "Witcombe's C15 font was given to St Andrew, Churchdown". The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST8218594140] notes: "Small Anglican church. Medieval foundation but completely rebuilt 1861-2 [...] Mostly C19 fittings with older altar rail and possibly Norman plain font." The font consists of a bucket-shaped basin raised on a cylindrical stem and a quadrangular lower base; there appears to be a moulding at either end of the stem; the upper surface of the rim shows the remains of the metal staples from the old font.
