Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: square bowl, each face with six shallow pointed panels, square base with seating for stem and four shafts at the angles, early 13th-century, stem modern." In Pevsner (1976): "Font. Of the C13 Purbeck type, square bowl, each side with six shallow blank pointed arches."
