Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal, panelled bowl with quatrefoils in circles, enclosing blank shields, panelled and traceried stem and moulded base, late 14th-century." In Pevsner (1976) and in Bettley & Pevsner (2007): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with traceried stem and quatrefoils with shields on the panels." [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the 12th century, but we have no information on the earlier font]
