Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal bowl, with cusped panels enclosing a molet, roses, blank shields, and a four-leaf flower, 15th-century; stem and base, modern." In Pevsner (1976) and in Bettley & Pevsner (2007): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with qautrefoils etc. and shields." The Benefice website [http://www.yeldhamchurches.org/churches/little-yeldham/] [accessed 15 July 2010] identifies the five-pointed star mullet on the font as de Vere's. [NB: there may have been a church here since the late 11th century, but we have no infromation on the earlier font]
