Reported in White's Directory for Essex for 1848: "a beautiful stone font, of the decorative period, was presented by the rector and other contributors" during the restoration carried around that date by the then [ca. 1848] rector. Bettley & Pevsner (2007) report that this church was "converted to a house in 1976". A 1980 archaeological report on the church [http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/adsdata/cbaresrep/pdf/019/01908002.pdf] [accessed 20 April 2009] notes that "the church has been cleared of all furnishings, except the font and stone reredos". [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the Norman period, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
