Noted in Pevsner (1976): "the former font from St Mary -- Coade stone, ordered in connexion with the Johnson restoration. Ellaborate and crisp Perp[endicular], octagonal, with traceried stem and cusped panels. Identical with the font at Debden." [NB: the Debden font is dated 1786 and built on a design by R.
