Font Notes:
The Chelmsford Cathedral web site [www.cathedral.chelmsford.anglican.org] [accessed 22 July 2010] informs that the baptismal font was made from Westmorland slate in the early 20th century. [NB: earlier parts of the church go back tomedieval times, but it was entirely re-built in the 15th century, but we have no information on the original font of this building, earlier a parish church -- an 18th-century font originally from this church is reported in the church of St. Peter, on Primrose Hill, by Pevsner (1976) -- Bettley & Pevsner (2007) report a modern font by Robert Potter, "a shallow round bowl on tripod support by Alan Evans" as the font in use at this time]
