There are six entries for Holbeach [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF3524/holbeach/] [accessed 25 November 2018] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular]. Panelled stem. Bowl with angels holding shields and the Instruments of the Passion. Unfortunately the representations are defaced." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF3590824792] notes: "Parish church. c.1340-c.1380, c. 1400, early C15, early C18, restored 1867. [...] Mid C14 octagonal font with tall traceried pedestal and each side of the bowl with crude figure holding emblem of the Passion." The demi-angels of the basin sides appear to be divided into two groups, alternating around the sides: four of them appear to hold long rectangular shapes held diagonally, probably scrolls that may have contained inscriptions originally; the other four demi-angels hold shields charged with emblems: one is clearly the symbol for the Trinity, another a plain Latin cross,
