There are two entries for this Weston [-on-Trent] [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK4028/weston-on-trent/] [accessed 10 August 2019], reporting one priest and two churches in it. Bulmer's History, Topography, and Directory of Derbyshire (Preston, 1895) reports a font of 1611 in this church; the church itself is dated back to the 13th century, acknowledging an earlier church at Domesday time, of which nothing remains. Pevsner (1978) notes: "Font. Dated 1661; of the type with elementary decorated panels as usual in Notts around Southwell." [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the 13th century, and there was a pre-Conquest church noted in the Doomsday survey in this locality; we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK3976527595] notes: "Parish church. C13, C14 and C15, restored 1876-7 [...] Stone font, with relief designs to each side of octagonal bowl, is dated 1661 and has a much restored contemporary carved oak cover." [NB: there is another 'Weston-on-Trent' in Nottinghamshire, with a Norman font claimed for its Church of All Saints].
