Cox (1912) reports an Early English font in this church. Noted in the Southwell Churches site [http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk] from a report of a 1722 follow up to the recommendations issued by the Archdeacon upon his 1718 visitation of this church; among them was that a cover be provided for the font. The Southwell Churches 'Official Listing Description' of 29-04-64 [http://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/basford-st-leodegarius/hlisting.php] [accessed 9 December 2009], however, notes: "octagonal font, C19, with traceried ogee cover" in this church, without mention of the earlier font. Had it disappeared by then? [NB: Kelly's Directory of 1881 notes a newly built church dedicated to St. Augustine, in High Church street, New Basford; it is noted with a modern font]. There is no mention of either font in Pevsner & Williamson (1979).
