Font Notes:
There are four entries for Breaston [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK4533/breaston/] [accessed 22 June 2025]; none of them reports a priest or a church in it. Noted in Bagshaw (1846): "The font is a fine specimen of Derbyshire spar, dated 1750, with a fluted column and bowl." Kelly's Directory of 1881 notes similarly and locates the font under the tower. In Pevsner (1978) as a baptismal font ca. 1720 [NB: the tower and the south aisle are dated to the 13th century but we have no information on the earlier font of this 17th-century church]
