There is an entry for Barton [Blount] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK2034/barton-blount/] [accessed 13 November 2019]; it reports a priest and a church in it. Pevsner (1978) writes: "Squat C14 font." The entry for 'Barton Blount medieval settlement remains, including a chapel [...]' in Historic England [List Entry Number: 1016778] notes: "The monument includes the earthwork and buried remains of the abandoned areas of Barton Blount medieval settlement, the buried and standing remains of St Chad's Church and a decoy pond. [...] St Chad's Church was damaged during the [Civil] war and by the early 18th century was in a dilapidated condition. [...] The church is situated in the landscaped grounds of Barton Hall approximately 30m north of the hall itself and is contained within a separate area. The medieval church, which is Listed Grade II, was rebuilt in 1714 and again in 1845 using medieval masonry. [...] The lower courses of the walls are of medieval origin and a blocked doorway on the north side of the building is also a remnant of the medieval structure. The interior is mainly 19th century with a plaster ceiling but the church contains a 14th century effigy and a late medieval font." There is also a separate entry for the Chapel of St Chad in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK2083934726]: "Private chapel, formerly parish church. Rebuilt 1714 by Samuel Taborer, probably using medieval masonry. Altered in 1845. [...] Squat C14 font octagonal bowl on octagonal base with concave sides."
