Noted and illustrated in Kroesen & Steensma (2004) as a baptismal font of the mid to late thirteenth century made of Baumberg sandstone: "The font at Stockum [...] has a complete scene in each of four niches [...] They are the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Baptism of Christ and the Crucifixion. The other niches contain the Magi and the Virgin and Child, which form a pair, and the Majestas representation and the patron saint of St. Pancratius. This font also has traces of the original colour." On-site notes: the bucket-shaped basin is decorated with an arcade of eight round arches supported on columns with simple capitals and bases; the arches contain, left to right starting on the east side: 1)Crucifixion with St. Mary and John the Evangelist; ; the scene has a Byzantine-like appearance; 2)Christ in Majesty with an angel in the upper left, a dove in the upper right, and two lamnbs (?) in the lower corners ; 3)St. Pancras holding a sword in a scabbard in his right hand, and a feather in his left; 4)Annunciation to Mary with Gabriel on the left; 5)Nativity scene, also in a Byzantine style, Joseph seated to the right and wearing a Jew's hat; 6-7)Adoration of the Magi; the scene is housed in two arches: in the left arch are the three Magi, while the next arch to the right contains the Madonna and Child; 8)Baptism of Christ with John the Baptist on the left and a secular figure, not an angel, on the right; there are traces of old paint, mostly on the spandrels and the columns; the spandrels of the arcade have leaf motif ornamentation; a vine decorates the upper basin side, just below the rim; the upper rim of the basin shows damage related to the metal staples of the old cover, one of which is still present; the basin interior has an old metal lining [lead?]; there appears to have been a centre drain hole, but it is now blocked; the old basin has been raised on a round lower base or plinth, modern. The font is now used with a modern baptismal dish inserted. The round font cover is modern, made of wood and with a moulded top. The Dorfinfo.de web site entry for Stockum notes the Romanesque baptismal font but dates it earlier: "von 1220-30"; it also informs that the font was moved to the new baptismal chapel in 1962/64.
