Font Notes:
Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "The ancient font is lost. The existing sorry substitute was put up in 1753, price 3l. 7s." The entry in The Dorset Historic Churches Trust web site [www.dorsethistoricchurchestrust.co.uk/bighamsmelcombe.htm] informs: "The present font is Norman and was brought from the chapel at Higher Melcombe in 1951." The illustration in this last source shows a round basin mounted on a modern pedestal made of multiple stones.
