The 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874) notes: "The font is a very interesting example of the very Early Norman period, composed of a massive circular basin and stem, the former ornamented with sculpture of fluted pattern." [NB: the name of this village, originally a chapelry in Iwerne Courtney [aka Shroton] parish, appears as 'Faringdon' and 'Farrington' in some sources].
