Described in Hutchins (1863-1871): "The font is probably Norman, being composed of a square bowl of Purbeck marble, supported upon plain shafts at the angles, and formerly probably by a central stem.". Duke [www.martinstown.co.uk] notes that the Warmwell font described in Hutchins [cf. supra] is not the current one [cf. Index entry for Warmwell No. 2] but a square font made of Purbeck stone from the Norman period. [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of this font].
