Font Notes:
Medieval baptismal font probably of the 13th century consisting of a plain round tapering basin raised on a cylindrical stem and an octagonal lower base. The outer surface of the basin appears to have been re-cut or drastically cleaned. Octagonal pyramidal cover of a type not uncommon in Dorset [e.g.: Puncknowle, Puddletown] both from the 17th and the 19th centuries. Described and fully illustrated in Gerald Duke [www.martinstown.co.uk]. [We are grateful to Gerald Duke, of www.martinstown.co.uk, for the information on, and photographs of this font and church]
