Notes in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "the font, having an octagonal basin having two shallow, plain, pointed arches on each face. It is connected with the column by a curious little buttress, and appears once to have stood upon another shaft, surrounded by pillarets, the insertions of which are still visible on the plinth." Listed in Long (1923) as a baptismal font perhaps of the Early English period.
