Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "The font is low, octagon and a square shaft." Listed in Long (1923) as a a post-Reformation baptismal font of the 17th or 18th century. Betjeman (1958) dates font and cover to the 18th century. Newman & Pevsner (1972) describe the font as "C18, with rather wild detail." [NB: some of the elements of the building go as far back as the 13th century; does Hutchins' description [cf. supra] pertain to the old font?]
