Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1961-1874): "The font seems in its upper portion to be Norman, but is of very poor character." Barnes (1891) dates it to the 13th century [Barnes (ibid.) mentions "the disappearance of the Norman font" from the earlier church]. Noted in Long (1923) as a baptismal font of the Early English period with a plain round bowl raised on a modern base. In The Dorset Historic Churches Trust [http://dorsethistoricchurchestrust.co.uk] as a font of the 13th century.
