Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "The font is a stone basin on a shaft." Listed in Long (1923) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. Newman & Pevsner (1972) write: "Font, a fluted bowl from Sturminster Marshall, probably C13, on a base by Prior" [i.e., Edward Schröeder Prior, academic and art historian, co-designer of St. Osmund's]
