Font Notes:
The Dorset Historic Churches Trust site [http://dorsethistorichurchestrust.co.uk/piddlehinton.htm] notes: "The church was dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin in 1299, but of the original building only the west arch under the tower remains." The DHCT further illustrates an octagonal font of the Perpendicular type: octagonal basin decorated with tetrafoils, raised on an octagonal stem and lower base; low-rise octagonal wooden cover with moulded sides and arch finial. The font design seems to match the Perpendicular fabric of part of the church, but it is most likely a 19th-century Victorian work. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font of this church]
