Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "The font is Norman, of a pattern which frequently occurs. It has a square bowl, ornamented with an arcade, and supported upon a massive central pillar, with four smaller ones at the angles." Noted in Mee (1939) as a "700-year-old font". In Newman & Pevsner (1972): "Font. Square, Purbeck, with four pointed arches each side; C13." [NB: arches appear round-headed, not pointed [cf. ImagesArea]]. Noted in Leach (1975) as a font made of Purbeck marble: "Purbeck stone" [source given: The Revd. J. Woods].
