Baldotto & Paolillo (2004) report a baptismal font [="battistero"] in the old church of the mission at San Carlos, then in the Provincia del Paraguay [part of Argentina now]; the same source notes that the mission suffered an epidemic in 1695 and was destroyed by the Portuguese.
