There are two entries for [Long] Crichel [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/ST9710/long-crichel/] [accessed 23 September 2020] neither of which mentions priest of church in it. Newman & Pevsner (1972) note: "Font. Octagonal, of Purbeck marble; Perp[endicular]. Quatrefoils with set-in shields as decoration." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST9775310272] notes: "C15 Purbeck marble font with octagonal, panelled bowl and panelled stem".
