Noted in Murray (1873) as "the old font". In Pevsner (1983): "Simple Norman font". 'The Story of Our Village', written by W.I in 1960 [http://fast-trax.50megs.com/wgHistory.html] [accessed 28 January 2010] notes: "The font is a plain octagonal sandstone bowl on a circular shaft with a round limestone base. The base appears to be of original date, but the bowl of a much later period."
